Mini-Marketing at the Library
FREE Marketing Data at your Fingertips!

presented by Robbins Library Reference Librarians:
Jennifer De Remer, Nancy Gentile, Bob James

Please join us as we demonstrate a variety of business subscription databases and websites which are a big help for the small business person that are free, with your library card. Discover the powerful Reference USA, and drill down to local statistics to create mailing/prospecting lists and other data sets. Take a look at Gale’s Onefile or the Boston Public Library’s Business Source Premier to access magazine articles from hundreds of business journals to profile a company or learn more about your own business type – it can put you in touch with people pursuing similar interests. Lack an online subscription to the Boston Globe or New York Times from 2000 to the present? It’s yours for free via the library. Make knowledgeable decisions by tapping into vetted websites via the Boston Public Library web page. We’ll update you on local/regional library services: wireless at the library, downloadable books for free; quality market research studies and business journal alerts. Too busy to gather information? Partner with a librarian who can offer personalized services. We sift through the data and block out the noise, for free.

Nancy Gentile was head of adult services at Robbins Library for over 20 years and now is an adult services librarian with responsibility for the circulating business collection and the Employment and Education section of the library. Nancy collaborated with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce on Business Forward 2005 and created a workshop on online business resources available through libraries. Prior to her many years at Robbins Library, she worked as a librarian at Millipore in Bedford, MA.

Bob James has been an adult services librarian at Robbins Library for over 15 years where he had responsibility for book selection for the circulating business collection and the Employment and Education section of the library. An instructor in the online business resources workshop last year, Bob returns as a workshop instructor for Business Forward 2006.

Jennifer De Remer has been head of adult services since 2005 and formerly was an adult services librarian at Robbins Library for over 20 years. Jennifer selects non-circulating resources and databases for the business reference collection. As adult services librarian she was primarily responsible for the Local History Room and its collections. She previously worked as a reference librarian in the Research Library of the Boston Public Library. Jennifer taught the online business resources workshop for Business Forward 2005.
